Business Coaching for Holistic Healthcare Practitioners: Small Group Programs

having a sustainable business that nourishes YOU is possible

My coaching goals are for you to have a practice that you love. One that sustains you, nourishes you, and helps you to receive an abundant living for all of the excellent work you do with your patients and clients. You are committed to making the world a better place, but not at the expense of your own health and wellness. My programs seek to help people create practices and lives that are regenerative, sustainable, and abundant. This is deep work, as I believe that personal growth is business growth. By flourishing as a human being, it is easy to grow flourishing businesses that nourish you as much as the work you do for your patients nourishes them. That’s a healthy qi dynamic. It’s the ultimate way of holistic health.

Resources to Flourish: small group coaching program for solo practitioners

Resources to Flourish is a comprehensive program for passionate solo practitioners helping fewer people than they want to (typically below 50 patients per week, as few as 10 patients per week). This program helps you grow your impact while ensuring that growth doesn’t result in you getting burned out, overwhelmed, and rushed. Maybe you just started your own practice within the last year, and you were so excited…but this is kind of hard? How can you have it make qi and financial sense?! Maybe you’ve been in practice for years—even decades—but your practice has never been what you know it COULD be. And now it’s time. Maybe you’ve got a good enough practice, but you KNOW it could be more efficient, you know you could have better patient retention, or be way less DRAINED by your patients. Or you can’t quite crack the code on the flow between work and home life. Or you don’t have the systems to support you, and are afraid you just aren’t a “systems” person, and it’s holding you back. Or you are maxed out even seeing one patient per hour and don’t have the imagination or resources to think of how to shift it to being easier, and more financially sustainable without being exhausted. You may be considering moving into a bigger space, or trying to figure out how to scale up your current space. Or you have a wait list for weeks with no idea how to help all these people given your current setup (and no, you don’t want to work more hours!). Or you want to receive support for your business, but no idea what that might look like, or where to even start. This is not a simple “get more patients” program—though that will be a focal point. This program is about building a sustainable practice that is in line with Chinese Medicine principles—you being in the generative cycle of Qi, Time, and Money. Here are some of the highlights of the program:

  1. Deeply Expanding Internal Capacity: for going home with great energy at the end of the day, present for yourself and your people. For feeling like you ACTUALLY have the qi to work ON your business, not just IN your business. For knowing that you can help people without it being a huge drain on your own qi. This is the Yin aspect of what I teach my clients, and it absolutely funds the Yang of positive, easeful change and growth.

  2. Authentic Branding: Calling in the RIGHT patients for YOU. Ones that resonate with your unique way of helping people heal. The ones who don’t care if you swear (if that’s your thing), or the ones who know you are clear and direct, or the ones who know you always know just the right thing to say. Your business as a reflection of the heart of you, as a healer.

  3. Ethical Patient Retention and Sustainable Relationships with Patients: Ensuring that you have the space you need to get results, with non-draining patient dynamics. Collaborating with your patients on their health—so that you’re not in “fix it” mode all day long (that’s exhausting!!). This is the best way to ensure that patients are getting sustained results—and can confidently refer others to you because you are the real deal. the result of these skills is 1. better patient outcomes 2. consistency in your schedule and your business 3. a schedule you look at and feel excited to see every. person. on. the. schedule!

  4. Heart-Centered Marketing: Letting people know how you can help them, in a way that resonates best for you and your way of being in the world. Social media marketing, community outreach, connecting with other professionals. There are a lot of ways to market. Marketing is important (so important!) but if you don’t have branding and systems of communicating with patients, you waste your qi and time. Organic marketing and paid marketing is covered in the course.

  5. Re-patterning belief systems: What core beliefs are holding you back from having the practice of your dreams? What stories are holding you in a pattern of unfulfilled potential? This is the heart of the qi of your practice. Your long term patterns show up in your practice. We will work on unwinding the root issue of those patterns that no longer serve. We will get granular about exactly how to get where you want to go with your goals. And, we will talk about patterns related to your own money, qi, and time. Because those are the cornerstone of a sustainable practice.

  6. Supportive Systems: Systems to hold your flow as you see patients and grow. Systems for organizing your administrative tasks, systems for communicating with patients, systems for scheduling, systems for pricing, systems for everything! Because when the qi knows where to go (systems!), everything flows. And then you can grow.

(One hour) We generally meet the first three weeks of the month, and the final week of the month is for implementation and integration. This is where we dive into what exactly is going on with you, and how to shift things to feel better. These calls are hot-seat style, and because the members of the group are in a similar place to you in terms of practice, you’ll benefit from hearing what they have going on too. Calls are recorded.

3x a month Skills Lab, with Julie / Stephanie, Julie’s Director of Operations and Skills Co-Teacher. The foundation of all of our work together is embodying these 12 micro-mindfulness skills so that you can expand your internal capacity. By incorporating and embodying these skills, you expand your internal capacity so that you CAN grow. Each week, we focus on one skill in the skills lab and dive deep about its practical application in the clinic, in our lives, how to use it to continually recalibrate the qi of your business to one that feels regenerative.

Investment

The program is a six month commitment, with the option to continue beyond that as needed. I have tried shorter programs, and what I have observed and experienced is that there is some magic in the six month number, in terms of you experiencing an arc of transformation. I do offer ongoing monthly support as a coaching option after the six month program.

The weekly time investment is to show up to the calls, three weeks out of the month—or 4.5 hours a month. The primary homework you have is to practice the skills I teach in your day to day business, and to work on your business in a directed, intentional way. It isn’t another thing on your to do list—it actually starts yielding results within the first few days of practice. In terms of additional work, it is done at a pace that is sustainable to you, the change you need and can integrate, and your life. Overwhelm and to do lists can choke qi. That’s not my methodology!

The financial investment for the program is not insignificant, but it is one that will yield qi, time and money results for years to come—while you feel better in your life and practice. Because I want to make sure we are a good fit for each other, I share the investment cost of the program during our Q&A call.

I’ve invested in significant coaching and training myself, to help you be the best you can be. For the past nearly four years, I have been apprenticing with Jade Connelly-Duggan, to complete the curriculum of the Transformational Leadership Graduate Program that was offered at Tai Sophia Institute. I continue my studies in Transformational Leadership, to help grow holistic healthcare access to our communities in a way that is in concert with its basic principles. That is, we are all part of a whole, and as we thrive, our community and environment thrive. Because I want to make sure we are a good fit for each other, I share the investment cost of the program during our Q&A call.

Lifeflow Leadership Small Group Coaching Program: for practitioners who have employee(s) / independent contractors

Lifeflow Leadership is a program for practitioners who are ready to expand their team, or to cultivate authentic, human-centered leadership skills to better lead the team they have. These program participants understand that they need more support to help meet the needs of their community, and are ready to move beyond doing it all by themselves or with only a single office assistant. By team, I mean both administrative employees, as well as clinical employees—often another Acupuncturist, or Clinical Team Member (massage therapist, nutritionist, functional medicine practitioner, etc.). Typically, people in this program are navigating the landscape of hiring, leading, and retaining an office manager, a clinical employee, or a combination of the two.

Some of the major issues we address in this group include: how to ensure the DNA of the brand you’ve developed is felt through ALL of your employees, even when you are not in the building. How do you convey the “magic” that you built your clinic with, when you aren’t doing all the hands on work? How do you ensure that your office staff understands that they are part of the care team, in the way they communicate with and help patients with administrative tasks? How do you help your Clinical Employees provide a consistent, heartfelt experience that is in keeping with your vision and commitments while honoring the fact that they are a human being as well? How do you fill a Clinical Employee’s schedule? How do you have a “clarifying conversation” in which everyone feels better at the end? How do you recalibrate your team qi when there is an upset (because there will be upsets—it's what humans do!). Here are some program points of emphasis:

  1. Internal capacity skill building so that you have the energy and resources to enjoy leading your team and to be truly supported by them.

  2. Interviewing, hiring, training, leading, and retaining a great team. How to keep the qi flowing within your team, without you trying to make everyone happy while you question why you expanded in the first place? (Was it really easier to do it all yourself?)

  3. Marketing your practice to fill your Associate’s schedule. How to speak to your clinic’s ideal patients, without them having to see YOU.

  4. Team flows—meeting rhythms, meeting structures, goal setting, skill building.

  5. Cultivating a healthy team environment, no matter what kind of families everyone grew up in, and what kind of communication adaptations those created. It is possible to design a healthy culture where there is productivity, mutual respect and inspiration. (Ask my team! This is our highest priority—and patients freaking feel it!)

  6. All the math and logistics that go along with hiring and expanding. Yes, sometimes the creativity is in solving the story problem of growth. Pay structures, vacation days, bonuses, CEU allowances, all the practical things that impact your bottom line. (Not the only thing that impacts your bottom line, but an important consideration!)

  7. All the paperwork that goes along with expansion—contracts, noncompetes, employee handbooks, conversation guidelines.

I’d love to learn more about how you want to grow. I offer free 20 minute Q&A conversations so that we can both learn more about each other and see if we are a good fit. You can click the link below to book online, or fill out the inquiry form in the “Inquire” link at the top of the page, and we will reach out to schedule a Q&A call.

(You commit to ONE of these times when you start the program). Due to the nature of Leadership needs, this program is open enrollment, and you can join when you need to, instead of having to wait for a new cohort to start. This is where we dive into what exactly is going on with you, and how to shift things to feel better. These calls are hot-seat style, and because the members of the group are in a similar place to you in terms of practice, you’ll benefit from hearing what they have going on too. Calls are recorded.

3x a month Administrative Office Hours with my Director of Operations Stephanie Stuhlsatz. Mondays at 11:00am CST. (One hour). These are drop in calls that are recorded, where you can dive deep into EXACTLY how we have our clinic set up for systems. All the administrative systems questions are there for the answering. What exactly do we say to patients that have them committed to their treatments plans, without prepaying, without buying packages, without pushy sales techniques? How do track patient retention? How to we organize everything so that we have great flow in the clinic? Same rotation as the group coaching calls. Calls are recorded.

3x a month Skills Lab, with Julie and Stephanie Stuhlsatz, Julie’s Director of Operations and Skills Co-Teacher. The foundation of all of our work together is embodying these 12 micro-mindfulness skills so that you can apply them in every aspect of your life. By incorporating (literally, getting them really comfortable and habituated in your body and your being) them, you expand internal capacity so that you CAN grow. Each week, we focus on one skill in the skills lab and dive deep about its practical application in the clinic, in our lives, how to use it to continually recalibrate the qi of your business to one that feels regenerative.

Resource Library: this has all the of the materials in it that Julie uses in her own clinic. Hiring guides (job descriptions, interview questions, contracts, pay scenarios), front desk guidelines and scripts for heart-centered patient communication, team meeting guides, marketing strategies, branding questions, math problems (no joke—math is magic!). This is an organized library of information that you can pull from wherever you are in your business.

Seasonal Qi Shift Workshops: As a Lifeflow Leadership coaching client, you get access to the Seasonal Qi Shift Workshops that are scheduled during our work together. These Qi Shift Workshops include: Winter Solstice Water Element Qi Shift; Lunar New Year Qi Shift: Spring Equinox Wood Element Qi Shift; Summer Solstice Fire Element Qi Shift; Late Summer Earth Element Qi Shift, and Autumn Equinox Metal Element Qi Shift. These are 1.5 hour workshops to help you align your vision and creativity with the season so that you have resonant growth throughout the year.

Private Facebook Group: For members of the Lifeflow Leadership Group, as a place to connect with colleagues who are growing in similar ways to you. A place to pose questions, digest experiences and share wins!

One on One Call with Julie: The program includes one 60 minute 1:1 call with Julie. Additional one on one calls can be added for a discounted rate during the course of the program.

Voxer Access: Voter is a voice and text app, so that you have support between calls. I typically return messages within 24 hours, M-F. This is the perfect tool to request: language for addressing a complex situation with an employee / patient / human; clarification as you are setting goals; gut checks; support in shifting a downward trend in any aspect of your business that is causing you distress. You have me, and my attention, on speed dial.

The program is a six month commitment, with the option to continue beyond that as needed. I have tried shorter programs, and what I have observed and experienced is that there is some magic in the six month number, in terms of clearing the path and being able to REALLY grow or recalibrate your team. There are options to shift into a monthly call program after completing the six month intensive, should you benefit from continued support.

The weekly time investment is to show up to the calls, three weeks out of the month. The primary homework you have is to practice the skills I teach in your day to day business. It isn’t another thing on your to do list—it actually starts yielding results within the first few days of practice. In terms of additional work, it is done at a pace that is sustainable to you. Overwhelm and to do lists can choke qi. That’s not our methodology here!

The financial investment for the program is not insignificant, but it is one that will yield both financial and interpersonal results for years to come. And beyond the financial growth you’ll have with the skills I teach in this coaching program, you’ll gain internal capacity that can’t be measured in dollars. Because I want to make sure we are a good fit for each other, I share the investment cost of the program during our Q&A call.
